As a toddler mom, comfort and practical fabrics have taken a front seat, but I’m a firm believer that those choices don’t have to be at the price of looking stylish. You can pull off an simple yet sophisticated look by just pairing a few staple pieces together with a smart jacket or statement piece of jewelry.
Admittedly these shorts by Splended are officially “last season”, in that yes I purchased them last summer, but they are every bit on point this year too. They are still available in several sizes, which I’ve linked here. The steel blue-gray color is are a great neutral tone that go with almost anything, but the tie dye pattern makes them really fun. The shorts generally run true to size, but the waistband runs a little on the tighter side. Since they are a lose fitting short, if between sizes go up one size so they are more comfortable for day to day wear. They are an appropriate length to wear to a company picnic or summer outing, but short enough to be fun and flirty. if you want to take them up a notch, the waistband folds over easily go up an inch or two for a sexier look.
I paired the shorts with a cropped tank and drape front off-white jacket from Anthropologie that I already had in my closet. I linked a very similar one here that here that is really cute too. I wear this jacket all the time with jeans and sleeveless dresses. The loose draped front makes it a touch more casual and easy for summer, which I really like.
This summer I’m also wearing the heck out of this silver tone pendant from Lucky Brand, which always has fun boho pieces of jewelry that are right up my alley. This particular piece is under $50 and looks great paired with my favorite maxi dresses and tunic tops, and the tassel is definitely trending right now.
