Weekly Look | Tie Dye Shorts

As a toddler mom, comfort and practical fabrics have taken a front seat, but I’m a firm believer that those choices don’t have to be at the price of looking stylish.  You can pull off an simple yet sophisticated look by just pairing a few staple pieces together with a smart jacket or statement piece of jewelry.

Admittedly these shorts by Splended are officially “last season”, in that yes I purchased them last summer, but they are every bit on point this year too.   They are still available in several sizes, which I’ve linked here. The steel blue-gray color is are a great neutral tone that go with almost anything, but the tie dye pattern makes them really fun.  The shorts generally run true to size, but the waistband runs a little on the tighter side.  Since they are a lose fitting short, if between sizes go up one size so they are more comfortable for day to day wear.  They are an appropriate length to wear to a company picnic or summer outing, but short enough to be fun and flirty.  if you want to take them up a notch, the waistband folds over easily go up an inch or two for a sexier look.

I paired the shorts with a cropped tank and drape front off-white jacket from Anthropologie that I already had in my closet.  I linked a very similar one here that here that is really cute too.  I wear this jacket all the time with jeans and sleeveless dresses. The loose draped front makes it a touch more casual and easy for summer, which I really like.

This summer I’m also wearing the heck out of this silver tone pendant from Lucky Brand, which always has fun boho pieces of jewelry that are right up my alley. This particular piece is under $50 and looks great paired with my favorite maxi dresses and tunic tops, and the tassel is definitely trending right now.

Weekly Look | Red Swing Dress

We’ve had a couple weekend getaways and vacations so far this summer, including our trip to Rosemary Beach last month.  I’ve taken this swing dress from Abercrombie on every trip.

This dress has a great flow to it, and the pleats dress it up just enough.  It is a perfect day to night dress for vacation, and I’m planning on taking this on our next trip to Italy for sure. Plus, it doesn’t wrinkle at all when packed!  I’m 5’8″ and swearing a size medium tall because the small is just a little too snug around the arms and a bit on the shorter side.  If you are 5’6″ or less the small regular would be just fine.

This dress is also a perfect excuse to wear these adorable pom pom sandals from Chinese Laundry, which are on sale now for less than $40.

Weekly Look | Off the Shoulder Ruffle Dress

With summer coming to an end in just over a month, lots of fashion bloggers are already posting lots of fall outfits. As much as I love curling up in a cozy sweater, I live in sunny Florida where we have warm weather for another couple months, so I wanted to share a few more of my favorite looks for those hot days still ahead!

This off the shoulder dress comes in a few colors, including this refreshing sea glass look, and it is less than $60.  I’m 5’8″ and wearing a size medium because this particular dress doesn’t come in long sizes, but otherwise I would have ordered a small.  It’s great for vacations, dinners out, baby showers and almost any event you can think of, and I love the soft ruffles at the top! This dress is super easy to care for, always important to me as a momma of a toddler…

I’m wearing it with one of my go to shoes for this summer, this Dolce Vita stacked  heel sandal.  I can wear these all day long and pick Max up with ease and carry him around. (I actually had these on when I picked him up from daycare today!)

Weekly Look | On Vacation Time

A pair of linen pants will go a long way in vacation, or if you just happen to live in Florida like I do.  I picked up these olive cropped linen pants this summer for our trip to Rosemary Beach, though I think these may be my new go to resort wear for travel everywhere.

The pants come with a flat front, pockets and stretch waistband in the back, so they are really comfortable.  They fit true to size, but if between sizes order down because of the stretch in the back.  I’m 5’8″ and wearing a size small. These pants also look fantastic with heels and detailed top for a night out.  (I’ve also included a link to similar pair of pants below too just in case your size is sold out.)

A Few of My Favorite Things – Packing Tips for Your Next Beach Trip

We’ve been planning this trip for several months, so I’m super excited to finally see the aqua waters and beautiful soft beaches in gorgeous Rosemary Beach.  Yay!

Packing for the beach can be overwhelming, especially with a toddler, so I wanted to share a few of my favorite things we managed to stuff in the back of the SUV…

1. Favorite Game, Rummikub.
Rummikub comes with us on all beach trips, and I even have it downloaded on my phone to practice for our beach trips, lol.  It’s a game where you try to get rid of your tiles in runs of numbers in the same color, or the same number in different colors.

2.  Favorite Sunscreen, Neutrogena Beach Defense.

This sunscreen goes on silky smooth, and feels like you are wearing nothing at all.  I don’t reapply nearly as much as I should and still never get burnt at the beach with this stuff!

3. Favorite Shoes, Sam Edelman Slides.

These Sam Edelman tan leather slides are my new go to shoe for everywhere, not just the beach.  They go with every outfit and look suspiciously like the Hermes slides that I’ve been stalking on Instagram for the last year.  Plus they are on sale now for under $60.

4. Favorite Jewelry, Kaia Tassel Necklace.

This fun multicolor tassel necklace makes even a plain old white tank super fun, and dresses up any sundress for a night out.  The wood beads make it extra beachy too!

5. Favorite Stroller, Uppa Baby G Luxe Umbrella Stroller.

This is my favorite day to day stroller, and hands down my favorite stroller to travel with.  It is very lightweight and closes up easily, has a great sun shield, storage underneath, and it folds so compact it is easy to pack for trips.  The seat adjusts so that it almost lays out flat, and the flap in the back lets air in keeping baby cool.  Max has slept for hours on end in this thing!

6. Favorite Shirt, Abercrombie V Neck Tee.

Over the last couple of months I think I’ve bought this Abercrombie tee in at least six colors.  It’s a nice fitted cut without being too tight, and v  neck is really flattering.  Even better, they go for under $20!

7. Favorite Beach Towel, Target.

The thing I hate about gigantic beach towels is that it’s hard to carry enough for the whole family without them falling all over the place.  These towels are big enough to get you dry but not too bulky, and they are less than $10 at Target.

8. Favorite Hat, Merona Panama Hat.

This Panama Hat by Merona is lightweight and comfy, plus it packs really well and pops back into shape after being mushed in a beach bag.  Plus, it looks adorable with plenty of outfits (especially on nieces), and it’s under $15 at Target.

9. Favorite Kid Clothes, Toms Paseo Sneakers.

Max’s grandma bought his his first pair of high top Toms when he was just learning to walk and they are still a favorite.  We recently got these Toms low top sneakers and love them just as much.  They Velcro under the lace holes on both sides so they are really easy to get off and on, and they wash and air dry well.  Max has the next size up waiting for him already too.

10. Favorite One Piece, Navy Deep V Ruffle by Abercrombie.

I’m usually a bikini girl, but it’s nice to have a one piece on hand too.  Sometimes I don’t think one pieces are quite as flattering on me, but I happily wear this deep v one piece by Abercrombie around all day.  The deep v it just a little bit sexy, and the and ruffles help hide any imperfections.  It comes in classic navy and red and is on sale right now for only $25.

After our trip, I’ll be putting together a blog post about our trip and visiting Rosemary Beach.  Check out my photos on Instagram for photos for a sneak peak of our trip!

Weekly Look – Deep V One Piece

Only have time for a mini post this week because I’m on vacation in Rosemary Beach, but I had to share the details for this new one piece bathing suit that is on sale now for less than $25.   It comes in classic colors like navy and red, and the ruffles and so pretty and feminine…

** Since the original post, I had to go back and pick this up in the red too – it’s just too good of a deal to pass up!

Weekly Look | Boho Skirt

I’m a sucker for a flowy, feminine boho skirt.  They are so versatile and transition easily from day to night, which is perfect for summer vacations.

This new maxi skirt from Gap fits true to size and has just enough fullness to make it fun without being clumsy.  The open stitched detailing around the knee gives you a little breeze on hot days, but this color will easily take me into fall when I pair the outfit with slouchy sweater or jean jacket.

I wore the skirt with my favorite blue bandana scarf and this Gap navy cami that goes with everything.  It runs a little large, so I recommend order a size down.

I am 5’8″ and wearing a size small in the skirt with flats, so the length runs a little bit longer than average but its perfect  for my height.  A cute pair of wedges or stacked sandals would help make up any difference.

Weekly Look | Soludos Espadrilles

I’ve finally jumped on board the Soludos train and I’m in love, plus this pair is on sale now!

(*It looks like since my original post my first link is no longer on sale, but they are still on sale on Zappos here)

I have been eyeing up a few different pairs for a while now, but I opted for this blue pair because (1) I thought the darker fabric would hold up better to spilled ice cream and toddler shenanigans, (2) the blue would be a nice neutral that could be paired with lots of outfits, like a denim jacket.  The ankle wrap portion is soft and comfy, and when I wore them to work one day this week they stayed tied all day long.  The shoes fit true to size and have a really comfortable lift.

And maybe my favorite thing about these shoes is that they look fantastic with my favorite cutoffs this summer!  I paired these pretty blues up with my new favorite light pink off the shoulder cotton top from Abercrombie, that’s also on sale now. And yes, it’s only natural to be holding a pretty bunch of roses, right?

Weekly Look | Patriotic Peplum

Celebrating the July 4th weekend in New Smyrna Beach, and ready for lots of good food, sparklers, and a few all American beers.  I just found the cutest red white and blue top on sale right now at Abercrombie for only $6, so there is still time to grab one his week!  Last week I picked up this new hat at Target, and its soft enough to pack easily  for summer vacations but still keeps its shape really well.   It was also under $20, which is right up my alley when I want something that I’m not afraid to get dirty and wear on the beach all day long.

Weekly Look | Ready for the 4th! 🇺🇸

Summer is finally in full swing, and everyone is getting ready for BBQ’s, pool parties, and the Fourth of July fireworks. Can you believe it’s less than two weeks away already?! 🇺🇸

My go to weekend outfits in the summers almost always consist of jean shorts and a sleeveless top.  This gingham print poplin halter from Abercrombie is on sale now for less than $25 – it’s breezy and cool for hot Florida afternoons.  I love the crisp cotton pleats, and the scalloped detailing at the bottom is really cute. It also looks great with wedges and white jeans.

I’ve been wearing these great neutral tan suede Sam Edelman stacked slides with everything, and they are super comfy.
